The Magen David

Nowadays the Magen David is known as a symbol of Jewish religion and is recognised only in that way. Though, a few people know that the Magen David became the religious symbol of Jews only at 17th century, till that day it wasn't the symbol of god. The Magnet David was created by Jewish king whose name was David. It was only the 17th century when the Magnet David became a typical depiction of synagogues in order to mark them as houses of prays.
According to one theory the Magen David was a sign of King David. His name on Hebrew consists of three letters and the six-pointed star is a graphic image of those letters. So, at first the Magen David was just a sign the King David sign documents and orders with. Than that sign was depicted on the shield of King David and became familiar for a number of people. The King David itself proclaimed that sign as a symbol of God.
The top of the star symbolise humans' urge towards God and the other five points are like a support for that urge. Though, according to another theory those six points are a symbol of God's protection for people. The centre of Magnet David is the earth and the points are the protection of God that surrounds the earth on the West, East, North, and South and from above and below. It is a symbol that expresses a thought that there is nothing to be afraid of fro people as God will provide them with his protection against all evil.
The Magen David symbol gave birth for wide-known pentagram. The upper point of the Magen David is a symbol of humans' urge for God and in case if there is no this point there remain only the lower point and so it becomes a symbol of urge for devil. The pentagram in its turn also has two meanings. If it is depicted with two pints up it is a symbol of a devil, but in case if it is depicted with one point up it is a symbol of Antichrist beast.
According to another theory the Magen David is an implementation of creation of the world. Those who deal with etymology of origin of this sign states that six points are the symbols of six days the God spent for creation of the world. Each point is a symbol of certain day and there is no way for Magnet David to be depicted in another way than it is now.
Though, according to another theory the Magnet David is a symbol of cabbala – an ancient Jewish mystical tradition based on an esoteric interpretation of the Old Testament. According to that teaching the world is dual and consists of two polar energies: the energy of a man and a woman. The Magnet David (according to this theory) is a sign compound of two triangles. Those triangles are the symbols of a man and a woman. The one with his point to the top – is a man triangle, and another one with his point down – is a woman. Putted together those triangles form the symbol of the harmony in this world.
