Swastika

If you ask any western or European person what a swastika is you will for sure receive the only possible answer that swastika is a symbol of Hitler's Fascism. One will hardly manage to find a person who would know nothing about swastika just like one will manage to find a person who will say that swastika is not a symbol of death and fascism. That is a result of World War II when Hitler wanted to conquer the whole world and unite it under the banners of fascism. Who knows why he chose this symbol as an emblem of his policy but one thing is clear – Hitler changed radically the meaning of that symbol.

The swastika is a symbol wide-known around the world for people of all nations and cultures. It is the most ancient symbol that first appeared long times ago. It is a cross with ends of it bended on-the-mitre of 90 degree. Those ends are directed after the motion of a sun. So, the swastika is a symbol of sun, life and flowing of life. There were also cultures that provided swastika with the idea of endless life; it is a symbol of merry-go-round of life. That is a symbol of the most positive and vital meaning, and that is why it was adopted by a great number of cultures.

The symbol of swastika was often imaged on cloth, utensils, and weapon and may other objects of humans' life. It was a rather popular symbol and that is how it became the symbol Hitler chose as emblematic symbol of his policy. He wanted to express the endlessness of Fascistic Germany that soon should become the centre of the world, but Hitler failed in his attempts and so, all he managed to do is to twist the meaning of the most optimistic symbol.

There are two kinds of swastika: the right-sided swastika and the left-sided swastika. The first one is a symbol of everything good of predominating of spiritual over material. The right-sided swastika is a symbol of spiritual vital energy that helps people to live and that states the good in everything around us. Though, the left-sided swastika is a polarity for the right-sided. It is a symbol of predomination of material over spiritual. That is a symbol of material factors that are considered to be the obstacles on one's way to spiritual immortality and purification.

As you can see the meaning of swastika common for us because of events of World War II we all remember is a meaning extremely different from the one it has from the very beginning. Swastika was created by ancient people long times ago to state that spiritual is predominant and one should care more about his soul than about his body. Swastika is a symbol of endless life and of motion of son, so it is a symbol of life and merits of life. No matter the common opinion about swastika that was twisted by Hitler one should remember that swastika has nothing to do with death and damage and all the more has nothing to do with fascism.
