One should remember that symbol is a reflection of mentality of every nation and a reflection of the events of their history, those are factors that cause certain meaning of a certain symbol.
Say, one wants to express the fear for death by means of a symbol, the symbol one chooses will depend on the cultural peculiarities of his or her nation. For example, to express the death symbolic a German person will chose the image of a lean cow. There are a number of factors that influenced the appearance of that symbol. One way or another but German people see the death as a lean cow, and that symbol is a peculiar symbol of German nation. In case of one tries to express the same idea by means of the same symbol for a person of another nation he or she will fail to do that.
Another example of a symbol that is peculiar only for certain nation, or it is better to say for people of certain belief, is a symbol of cross that is a symbol of Christianity and its braches. The Cross in Christianity is a symbol of Jesus' scarifies he made for the sake of people. According to the Holly Bible the son of God were sent on the earth in order to expiate the sins of humans. That son was Jesus he came on the earth to remind people that there is the God in the heaven and he worries much about their sins. Jesus expiated the sins of humans and was sentenced to crucifixion as people didn't believe that he is a son of God.
So, the Christians take the cross as a symbol of Jesus' sacrifice for their sake. That is some kind of reminder that people own their life for Jesus who gave his life in order to save their lives. Though, if one who professes Islam for example will see the cross no feelings will appear in his heart as that person has another religion and there is no Jesus in that religion and if so, no his sacrifice. So, the cross is a symbol of the meaning of great importance for every one who professes Christianity, though it is a symbol of no meaning and value for those who profess another religion.
